The 2/3s were very excited to tackle their first weaving. With the help of two Parker graduates who were visiting school, the students strung their round looms (paper plates) and began enthusiastically weaving.

Wycinanki is a Polish word for paper-cut designs. These beautiful paper cut-outs have been used to decorate the interior of Polish homes since the early 19th century! The 4/5s tried their hand at their own Wycinanki designs. They drew out their idea, copied it onto colored paper, carefully cut away the negative areas, and then glued it to a contrasting colored backing paper.

6/7/8s started a unit on water color painting by experimenting with the paint on wet and dry paper, mixing colors together, and adding details to wet and dry surfaces. Local water color painter and Parker Admission Director, Laura Mandelson, came into class to show the students some of her work and to talk about how to achieve different results with this medium.
