4/5 Name Designs

The 4/5s also created monochromatic locker identification art. Their monochromatic cursive names are backed by black and white geometric designs. The students began by creating a stencil of their name, then traced that onto a bordered paper upon which they developed an eye-catching black and white design. This will assist with the which is whose in the halls.

Middle School Name Designs

This year's locker identification art is monochromatic cursive names backed by black and white geometric designs. 2/3s Draw and Paint Shadows

On a beautiful fall afternoon the 2/3s trekked over to the butterfly garden to capture shadows on large white paper. Back in the classroom, these now abstract designs will be painted with warm and cool colors.

2/3 Observe and Draw Shells

The 2/3s were excited to observe the extraordinary detail in an assortment of sea shells. After examining many different shells, they each picked a couple to draw using colored pencils.

K/1 Mixing Primary Colors

The K/1 art class began the year by reading Harold and the Purple Crayon, and talking about different kinds of lines reflecting different emotions. Then a discussion of primary and secondary colors was followed by experimenting with colors that can be mixed with red, yellow and blue tempera paint.

As part of the K/1's study of Mexico, they learned about the Saguaro Cacti of the Sonoran Desert. They painted, cut out and stuffed four large cacti that will enhance the look of their classroom as they present their learning to their parents and their buddy class.

The K/1  students mastered the over, under technique to make paper weavings. A curved background paper added interest and a bit of challenge to their work.
